The “no filter” promise doesn't match the rules
Start here, because it's the gap everything else falls into.

CrushOn's page title is “CrushOn AI — No Filter NSFW Character AI Chat”. Its sidebar button says Unfiltered. It runs dedicated landing pages at /ai-porn-chat and /ai-sex-chat.
Now the rules you agree to when you sign up:
Read those two lines next to a URL that ends in /ai-porn-chat and you have the whole problem.
Why it matters practically: this is the gap accounts get closed in. You're sold zero filters, you're governed by rules that ban explicit content, and enforcement lives somewhere in between. Nobody tells you where the line is until you've crossed it.
A Trustpilot reviewer put the lived experience plainly:
To be fair — that's a soft landing rather than a ban. But it's not what “unfiltered” means.
There are three currencies, and only one of them is honest
Most apps in this category run one token. CrushOn runs three, and they do different jobs.

💡 The thing to notice: the currency you earn by giving the platform content and referrals is not the currency that buys you anything meaningful. Coins are engagement. Diamonds are money. Credits are the product. Keeping them separate is a design choice, and it isn't one that helps you.
⚠️ And you can't check the exchange rates. The store page shows the explainer text to a logged-out visitor and nothing else. Per-action costs, coin packs, Diamond prices — all behind a login. You find out what things cost after you've committed.
The $0.99 “age verification”
This one deserves its own heading.
CrushOn offers you two ways to verify your age. One is AgeGo, a real third-party age-estimation service. Fine.

The other is this:
A card number does not contain a date of birth. Paying a dollar proves you have a card. It doesn't prove you're eighteen — plenty of sixteen-year-olds have debit cards.
And the sweetener gives the game away. Real age verification doesn't come with 60 Diamonds and a free trial attached.
A Trustpilot reviewer named it exactly:
Compare that to SpicyChat, which runs genuine third-party ID and face-match checks in the UK, France, Italy, Australia and 26 US states. Same category, same money, completely different posture.
The refund policy, and the sentence after it
CrushOn's terms are blunt, and I'll give them credit for clarity:
No refunds. That's common enough in this category.
Then comes the part that isn't common:
So: no refunds, and you agree in advance not to ask your bank either.
You retain your statutory rights regardless of what a terms page says — that's not legal advice, it's just how consumer law works. But a company writing that clause is telling you something about how it expects disputes to go.
And the annual plan compounds it. From their own terms: annual billing is a one-time payment that does not renew, upgrades are allowed within the year, and downgrades are not. So you pay twelve months up front, you can't step down, and you can't get any of it back.
There's also a geo-restriction — the checkout asks you to confirm you're not in certain countries before paying, and the list only renders once you're inside.
Trustpilot is 1.8 out of 5
Twenty-two reviews is a small sample and I'll say so up front. But the distribution is stark: 91% one-star, 9% two-star, and nothing above that at all.
The complaints are consistent, which matters more than the volume:
That last one is a real product observation dressed as a complaint. The characters here skew hard toward one register, and if you want a story rather than a scene, you'll feel it.
The subreddit runs to 77,000 members and the mood there is more mixed than Trustpilot suggests — but one thread title has stuck: “The end for crushonAI”, with the summary “Broken ai, bad search engine, shadow banned bots.”
Right — what's actually good
I've spent five sections on problems, so let me be fair about the product, because parts of it are genuinely strong.
The model shelf is the best thing here. Three tiers — Free, Pro and Ultra — running from fast lightweight models like Mistral 24B and their own Crushon Leo, up to Claude Opus, GPT-5, GLM 5 and DeepSeek V4 on Ultra. That is a serious lineup for $5.99 entry, and switching models genuinely changes the writing.

Memory goes deep. 8K on free, 16K on mid tiers, 24K on the top. You can pin up to 8,000 characters of context. Against SpicyChat's 4K free tier, that's a real advantage.

The memory system itself is unusual. Memory cards, a summarise function, and public or private memories — you can share a memory anonymously and it becomes part of the character's wider world. It's a genuinely creative idea and I haven't seen it elsewhere.
Group chat works on paid tiers, with a dedicated 8K-memory model.

You get temperature control, with a sensible in-app warning that pushing above 1 degrades quality.
Inspiration Replies suggest what you might say next — daily-capped, and better than it sounds when a scene stalls.
Daily tasks pay. Check-in, make a memory public, view three memories, have a conversation, create your first character. Small amounts, but it's real.
What it doesn't have
No video. None. No evidence of it anywhere.
Image generation exists but is undocumented. Their own copy says premium “unlocks image generation” and that's the last you hear of it — no model named, no resolution, no per-image cost, nothing. That's why Media scores 5.0.
No lorebooks. No personas. If you're coming from SpicyChat, those are the two things you'll miss most.
No app-store presence. Both candidate Google Play package IDs return 404 from Google's own servers. Android ships as an APK sideloaded from a CDN link in the footer. No store means no store-level refund route, no store moderation, and no automatic update integrity — for an adult app handling card details, that's worth weighing.
Models get retired. The interface has dedicated warnings for it: “Retiring Soon”, “Model Instability”. The one you build a habit around may not be there in six months.
Deluxe is being killed off. There's a live countdown, existing subscribers keep it to the end of their cycle, and a new Luxe tier at $39.99 has appeared alongside the old Standard/Premium/Deluxe names. The product is mid-rename and the pricing page can't be read without an account, which is why every review of this app quotes different numbers — mine included.
Creators get tips, and no floor
You can publish characters. Other users can tip you in Diamonds. That's the whole programme.
There's no revenue share, no published rate, no payout threshold and no settlement schedule. And the terms reserve the right to
and to
Tips can be reversed. Terms can change. Nothing is guaranteed.
If you want to build characters and be paid for it, OurDream pays cash and Secrets AI pays 300 credits every time someone forks your work. Both are better deals than a tip jar the platform can empty.
Where the money should go instead
I don't like writing a review that ends in “buy something else”, so let me be precise about who each alternative suits.

Candy AI – Cheaper to start ($5.99/mo annual), licensed real performers, live cams, and a video studio that does two-minute multi-scene clips. If you want NSFW content rather than NSFW writing, this is the obvious swap. Its pricing is published, its refunds exist, and its statement descriptor is knowable before you pay.

OurDream — The best generation tool in this set, with real prompt weighting and negative prompts, and it pays its creators actual money. More expensive at $12.99/mo, and worth it if you're making things rather than just chatting.

SpicyChat — If what you actually liked about CrushOn was the model selection and the deep memory, this is the same idea done better: 15 models, 5,000-entry lorebooks, ten-bot group chats, and no credit meter at all. Its free tier is genuinely unlimited.
Stay with CrushOn if the 24K memory and the Claude Opus / GPT-5 shelf at $5.99 is specifically what you want, and you're happy to pay monthly rather than annually so you can walk away.
Verdict
CrushOn AI has one genuinely good idea and a lot of paperwork around it.
The good idea is the model shelf. Claude Opus, GPT-5, GLM 5 and DeepSeek V4, selectable, with 24K memory, starting at $5.99 a month. On raw specifications that beats most of this category and the price is fair.
Everything surrounding it makes me uneasy. Marketing that promises no filters over rules that ban pornography. A dollar charge dressed as age verification and sweetened with free Diamonds. A refund policy that asks you to promise not to call your bank. Annual billing with no downgrades and no renewal. Three currencies, none of them priced where you can see. No app store. And a Trustpilot page where nine out of ten people gave one star.
None of that is fraud. All of it is friction pointed at you rather than at the company, and it accumulates.
👉 If the model list is what you want, subscribe monthly and never annually. That way the worst case is one month.
👉 If you just want good NSFW chat without the homework — Candy AI at 7.8 or OurDream at 8.0 will treat you better for similar money, and you'll know what you paid for before you pay it.
